Richard Kutschbach Obituary, Death – At the age of 79, Richard “Dick” Kutschbach, who resided in Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital on July 13, 2023. On May 29, 1944, Dick was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Dorothy Ellen Fink Halasz and Francis Kutschbach. His mother’s maiden name was Fink. His maternal grandparents, Elemer and Bessie Fink, were responsible for his upbringing.
After receiving his diploma from Huntington High School in 1962, Dick enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as a machinist aboard the USS Meredith. Chillicothe Fire Equipment was initially acquired by Dick and his wife, Clara, in 1987. The business was renamed Chillicothe Fire & Security in subsequent years.
After 26 years of ownership, he and his wife decided to retire and sell the firm to their daughter and son in law (Larry and Angie Lochbaum). He wed Clara B. Carter in February of 1968, and the couple went on to have two kids together. Shelly Kutschbach Horch (Dean Arledge) and Angie (Larry) Lochbaum. The joy he found in life came from spending time with his grandkids.
Bailey Lochbaum of Chillicothe, Jordan (Brandon) Ellis of Columbus, Carter Lochbaum of Columbus, and Colin Horch (Mikayla Homa) of Chardon are the members of the team. Xenia Justice Stearos is the step-granddaughter of Justice Stearos.
Jeff (Kali) Arledge of Lancaster and Max Arledge of Chillicothe are their father Dean’s children. In December, he was going to become a great grandfather, so that was a really exciting time for him. Jordan is the very first granddaughter, and she will soon become a grandmother to the very first great grandson. He was very pleased of all of his grandkids, but especially of his youngest granddaughter, who would be attending graduate school at the University of Virginia beginning in the autumn. He shared this news with everyone he came in contact with.
She is also the only one who possessed red hair like him, which was something that he took great pride in. Clara, his devoted wife of 55 years, is the only one he leaves behind. His daughters and grandchildren, his brother Francis “Pete” (Rosemary) Kutschbach and sisters: Donna (Don) Carter, Diana Taylor, Paula Halasz. Carolyn “Sue” Miner, Mary Moore, and Nancy Carter are all Carolyn’s sisters-in-law. Lennie (Charlie Divan) Carter and David (Beth) Carter are the brother-in-laws of Beth Carter.

He was honored with the position of JCI Senator and was recognized as an Ohio Jaycees member for life. He was a member of several organizations, including the American Legion Post 757, the Eagles, the Chillicothe Kiwanis, the Elks, and the Amvets.
Anyone who knew Dick would agree that he was the life of the party and always liked joking about and laughing. He had a contagious sense of humor. Dick was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he wouldn’t try. He loved fishing, boating, camping, 4-wheeling, jeeping, traveling and just being around family. He loved when mom and him would jump in their RV and just head down the road, sometimes never knowing where they would end up. Dick loved floating in the pool and always had a smile on his face when his grandkids were around. Dick was the best husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother anyone could ever ask for.
He will be missed by many. Dick would want all of us to realize life is short and enjoy it while you can.
